The multi-family house in Bellinzona uses and reinterprets the typology of the surrounding buildings at the same time. With the black Eternit façade in a brick look, the architect Leonardo Modena gave the building a modern appearance. This is in part thanks to its combination of bronze-brown, striking window frames. The irregular placement of window openings is another defining element for the contemporary look of the house.
Since each floor has only one apartment, the sun can penetrate unhindered into the living spaces throughout the day – hence the name of the project: "Mirasole". For the architect, the intimacy of the living space was an important concern, which is why he chose loggias. These allow for a connection with the exterior without being visible as such. The patios also create an extension for the living space.
In creating the interiors, Modena relied on quality materials. The long-style Megapark smoked oak planks exude a dignified atmosphere. The colour white, which was used for all fittings as well as the internal staircase, forms a nice counterpart that also allows a lot of freedom for furnishings. Especially in the upper duplex apartment, these contrasting materials emphasize the dichotomy between heaven and earth.
